Through hands-on BODY&SOIL workshops here in Uganda, we share practical knowledge and skills that you can apply right away — from regenerative agriculture and nutrition, to meal prep, cooking and recipes, post-harvest handling, hygienic food processing, herbal knowledge, to upcyceling and creative reuse. Our goal is to equip you with practical skills to improve your health and livelihood while helping build stronger, more resilient food systems.

  1. Food as Medicine: Nutrition, Healing Foods & Food Processing

What We Offer

This hands-on workshop teaches you how to understand nutrition, use affordable local ingredients, prepare nourishing meals, process foods safely, and create value from locally available resources.

Participants learn:

  1. Nutrition & Food for Health
:

    Learn practical meal preparation strategies, including how to use food to support challenges such as weight management, type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure.

  2. Local Foods & Value Addition:

    Learn how to make and use local flours, create nutritious recipes, bake with with local flours, and develop affordable, yummy and healthy products such as snacks, breads, and spice blends.

  3. Food Processing & Preservation
:

    Learn hygienic food handling, drying, fermentation, storage, and simple processing techniques using accessible tools such as dehydrators to preserve nutrients, reduce waste, and extend shelf life.

  4. From Kitchen to Opportunity
:

    Explore how traditional foods and local ingredients can be transformed into products for households, communities, or small businesses.

Duration:
1–2 days, depending on the depth and focus of the topics covered. Accommodation is available for participants joining a two-day immersive learning experience.

2. Regenerative Farming: Restoring Soil, Growing Resilience

This hands-on workshop introduces agroecology, syntropic farming, and regenerative practices adapted to tropical farming systems. Participants learn practical methods to restore soil health, increase biodiversity, reduce chemical dependency, and apply regenerative principles in their own farms and kitchen gardens.

Participants learn:

  1. Soil Health & Regenerative Practices
:

    Understand soil health, soil microorganisms, composting, natural soil improvement, minimal soil disturbance, and how to protect and rebuild living soils.

  2. Growing with Nature:

    Learn syntropic and regenerative farming approaches, crop diversity, crop associations, mulching, and natural pest management, including introductions of how to make and use natural pesticides.

  3. Seeds, Biodiversity & Useful Plants
:

    Explore indigenous crops, seed saving, crop diversity, crop associations, and the importance of herbs and medicinal plants. Learn how locally available plants can support nutrition, traditional knowledge, and healthier food systems.

  4. From Garden to Harvest
:

    Learn practical approaches for kitchen gardens, sustainable production, and post-harvest handling to preserve food quality and reduce losses.

Duration:
1–2 days, depending on the depth and focus of the topics covered. Accommodation is available for participants joining a two-day immersive learning experience.

3. Creative Green: From Beads to Bags

Waste is one of the biggest environmental challenges facing communities today. This hands-on workshop explores how creativity, practical skills, and circular thinking can turn discarded materials into valuable resources while reducing waste.

Participants learn:

  1. Understanding Waste & Circular Solutions:

    Learn about waste management, the environmental impact of waste, and how reducing, reusing, and recycling can create more sustainable communities.

  2. Sustainable Product Design & Creation:

    Learn how to design, sketch, and create practical products from recycled materials, including school bags, shopping bags, paper beads, jewellery from recycled material, and reusable items.

  3. Branding & Storytelling:

    Learn how to communicate the message behind sustainable products through creative design, awareness messages, and simple branding approaches.

  4. From Waste to Opportunity:

    Explore how upcycled products can create value, support small income-generating activities, and inspire community solutions.

Duration:


1 day. Basic techniques can be learned during the workshop, while more advanced skills such as sewing products may require additional practice afterwards. Longer workshops can include additional training in product development, marketing, and business skills.
